Patricia “Pat” Ann Gearing, 92, of Black River Falls, passed peacefully on December 3, 2025,
surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 9, 1933, in Black River Falls,
Wisconsin, and spent her childhood in Alma Center, Wisconsin.

Patricia was an exceptional student, graduating as valedictorian from Alma Center High School.
Following high school, she lived in the Twin Cities, where she pursued continuing education at
the University of Minnesota, reflecting her lifelong love of learning.

Throughout her working life, Patricia was known for her reliability, intelligence, and strong work
ethic. After working in the Twin Cities at a telephone company, she returned to Alma Center
where she worked for Strandberg Veterinary Service and later worked for Jackson County in the
Clerk of Courts office until her retirement. She was respected for her dedication and
professionalism. She also served as the Town Clerk for the Town of Adams for many years.

On June 15, 1957, Patricia married the love of her life, James “Jim” Gearing. They shared more
than 56 years of marriage, building a life rooted in devotion, family, and enduring partnership.
Jim preceded her in death on May 11, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Aleda Thompson; her father, Edwin Bakke; her
stepmother, Dorothy “Dot” Bakke; her sister, Yvonne Larson; her brother, Kenneth Bakke; and
her beloved husband, Jim Gearing.

She is survived by her son, David (Amy) Gearing, her daughter, Ann (Jim) Klieforth; four
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pat was known for her vivacious personality and quick wit. She loved telling jokes, especially
including Ole and Lena, bringing laughter to gatherings of both family and friends. She was an
amazing cook and baker whose meals and treats were expressions of love. Her home was filled
with warmth, humor, and generosity.

Pat will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion to her
family. Her legacy lives on through the generations she loved so deeply and the memories she
created through shared laughter and lovingly prepared meals.

A celebration of life will be held in the Spring, with the date and time to be announced. Pat will
be laid to rest beside her husband at the West Garden Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Pat’s memory to St. Croix Hospice, or a hospice
organization of the donor’s choice to recognize the invaluable service they offer.

We trust in God’s promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing that Patricia now rests in
His loving arms, reunited with those who went before her.
