Authorities in Jackson County say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle Monday night.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy came upon the crash around 8 p.m. on State Highway 54 between Red Iron Road and Mission Road in the Town of Brockway.

When the deputy arrived, the pedestrian was not breathing. Life-saving efforts, including CPR, were started before the victim was taken to a hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

Authorities identified the victim as Jordan Funmaker, 34, of Black River Falls.

Investigators say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. It was reported the pedestrian had been walking in a traffic lane while wearing dark clothing.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Black River Falls Fire Department, and Black River Falls EMS. The crash remains under investigation.
