The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is urging the public to sign up now for hunter education courses before spring classes fill up. Hunter education is required for anyone born on or after January first, 1973, to purchase a hunting license, unless they’re hunting under the Mentored Hunting Law.

The DNR offers several course options, including traditional in-person classes, an internet course with a field day, and an online-only option for adults 18 and older with prior experience. Youth 17 and under must take an in-person or field-day course.

Early registration is encouraged. Courses can be found through a Go Wild account, with more added throughout the year. More information is available on the DNR’s Safety Education webpage.
