The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters and outdoor enthusiasts to stay safe during the 2026 spring turkey season, which runs April 15th through May 26th.
With hunters and non-hunters sharing public lands, officials say awareness is key. Outdoor users are encouraged to wear blaze orange or other high-visibility clothing, while hunters should avoid excessive camouflage that makes them harder to see.
DNR officials also stress the importance of the four basic firearm safety rules known as TAB-K: treat every firearm as loaded, always point the muzzle in a safe direction, be sure of your target and what’s beyond it, and keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
The DNR says the spring season is a great time to enjoy the outdoors, but safety should always come first.
