Vernon “Vern” LeRoy Larson

Vernon “Vern” LeRoy Larson, 70, of Osseo, Wisconsin, passed unexpectedly on April 10 th , 2024.
Vern was born to Robert and Joyce (Schwoch) Larson on May 28 th , 1953, in Mondovi,
Wisconsin, where he grew up with his four siblings: Betty, Steve, Jolene, and Becky. Vern grew
up in rural Mondovi where he was fortunate to attend the country school in Naples, Wisconsin,
through the 8 th grade. He then spent a year in Mondovi before later moving to Osseo in 1968. He
then graduated with the class of ’71 from Osseo High School. He spent a lot of his summers in
Osseo with his grandma Mabel Schwoch, who he would later live with.
In 1973 he married Linda Stensen, and they had a beautiful daughter, Serena, who has grown
into a wonderful young woman. They later separated in 1976. On July 16, 1977, Vernon married
Becky Monson. Together they raised their two sons, Jerad and Brent, who are now men like their
dad. Throughout the years, we have grown into this wonderful, blended family on all sides. In
addition to being an amazing father, many young people in the community saw him as a father
figure and a role model.
Starting at 16, Vernon spent much of his time working on the farm with his uncles, aunts, and
cousins. After graduation, he got a farm deferment and helped his aunt and uncle Bob and
Marcia Schwoch, where he helped take a 1-herd, 100-acre farm into a 2-herd, 600-acre farm.
After Bob and Marcia died in 1995, Vernon went to milk cows for Paul and Louise Lauterbach
until they sold their farm in 1998, at which point he switched careers and began working for
Global Finishing Solutions (formerly JBI). Although he held several positions at Global
Finishing Solutions, his passion was working as a plasma table operator.
How do you describe Vern? He was a wonderful husband, father, friend, and confidante. He was
a man of strong faith with a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and
wasn’t afraid to show it. He would share it with anyone who asked and listen to anyone who
wanted to talk. He was a valued member of the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church where he
taught Sunday school for over ten years. He sang with the praise team and choir, served on the
council, and communion, and yes, he was even a minister, officiating four weddings. Vernon
loved life! He was a talented writer and poet, as well as a skilled metal worker; he often used his
talents to make beautiful Christian metal art. Vernon loved to dance and listen to music, even
composing and singing some original worship songs. He was an all-around people person, and as
many have said, “to know him was to love him”. He will be greatly missed.
Vernon is survived by his devoted wife, Becky Larson, three children, Serena Larson, Jerad
(Jessica Bertrand) Larson, and Brent (Tasha) Larson; siblings Betty Larson of Eau Claire, Steve
(LaZette) Larson of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Jolene (Miles) Moyer. He is also survived by his aunt
Maxine (Paul Badker), his nieces and nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joyce, sister Becky Larson, niece Jessica
Moyer, grandparents, and the rest of his uncles and aunts.
Funeral services for Vern will be held on Saturday, April 20th at the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Osseo, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 2:45 p.m., followed by
funeral services at 3:00 p.m. Pastor David Hoadley to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local church or charity of your
choice.
