The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) held a special dedication Monday at its Madison headquarters, unveiling a new lobby display honoring fire departments across the state.

DSPS Secretary Dan Hereth welcomed guests from the Wisconsin fire service, highlighting the state’s ongoing partnership with local fire departments. The display features fire patches collected over the years from departments throughout Wisconsin.

“As Wisconsin’s safety agency, we recognize the important role our fire departments play in keeping communities safe,” said Hereth.

The dedication came one day after International Firefighters Day and included representatives from key statewide fire organizations. DSPS also announced $75,000 in Youth Firefighter Training grants awarded to four Wisconsin technical colleges: Fox Valley, Gateway, Northcentral, and Western Technical College.

The grants support programs introducing high school students to fire service careers, helping cover training gear, materials, and transportation.
