A new effort is gaining ground to support sustainable farming in Wisconsin. Farmers, graziers, and advocates are backing the “Transition to Grazing Pilot Program,” a bill that would provide up to $40,000 in grants through a new DATCP program.
The goal? Help farmers shift from confinement or continuous grazing to rotational managed grazing—a move that improves soil health, reduces runoff, protects water, lowers input costs, and boosts farm resilience.
Supported by both environmental and agricultural groups, this bill has received strong bipartisan support in the Wisconsin Legislature.
