The Wisconsin Department of Revenue has launched a new online resource to help first-time tax filers navigate tax season with confidence. The First-Time Filers webpage is designed for students, recent graduates, independent contractors, and new Wisconsin residents.

The page offers step-by-step guidance, plain-language tax definitions, instructional videos, and information on filing both federal and state returns. It also highlights free filing options, including WisTax, the state’s secure online filing system.

Revenue Secretary David Casey says the goal is to make filing taxes transparent, secure, and easy to understand—especially for new taxpayers.

The Department of Revenue encourages eligible filers to file electronically, noting it’s the fastest and most secure way to receive refunds.
