The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has awarded more than $6 million in grants to lake organizations, nonprofits, and local governments to support surface water restoration and protection projects in 2025 and beyond. Out of 418 applications requesting nearly $8 million, 371 projects received funding.

Grants will support diverse efforts, including habitat restoration, water quality improvement, and invasive species management. Key projects include river restorations in Dane, Ozaukee, and Calumet counties, runoff reduction in Sheboygan and Wood counties, and a carp barrier installation in Green Lake County.

Additionally, 156 organizations will participate in the Clean Boats, Clean Waters program, and 38 will join the Lake Monitoring and Protection Network. For more details, visit the DNR’s website.
