Wisconsin taxpayers now have a new way to register as organ donors—directly through their state tax return. This option, introduced in 2025 following the passage of Wis. Stat. § 157.06 (2023), allows individuals to check a box on Schedule 3, Part II of their Wisconsin income tax return to join the Wisconsin Donor Registry. Spouses filing jointly may also sign up.

Key Details:
✅ Available to Wisconsin residents aged 15 and older (including emancipated minors).
✅ No health history restrictions—donations may support transplantation, therapy, research, or education.
✅ More than 24,600 Wisconsinites have already signed up through their tax returns in just two months.
✅ One donor can save up to 8 lives and help 75 others.

Holly Thomas, president of Donate Life Wisconsin, encourages residents to take this quick, secure, and lifesaving step when filing taxes or renewing their driver’s licenses.

To register, check the box on your tax return or visit DonateLifeWisconsin.org.
