Tuesday’s Wisconsin Lottery Midday Pick 4 drawing produced an unusually large payout after the winning numbers came up 1-9-6-1. The drawing generated more than 211-thousand dollars in winning tickets, far above the usual Midday average payout of about 95-hundred dollars.

Lottery officials say the palindrome-style number sequence — 1961 — may have attracted players because of birthdays, anniversaries, or historical connections. The year 1961 is remembered for milestones including Alan Shepard becoming the first American in space and Roger Maris breaking Babe Ruth’s home run record.

The Wisconsin Lottery says this marks the fifth time this fiscal year that a Pick 4 drawing payout exceeded the average by more than 100-thousand dollars. Pick 4 drawings are held twice daily, with top prizes of up to 5-thousand dollars on a one-dollar straight play.
