The thirty-first annual Jackson County Women in History event honored five history-making women during a program this past Wednesday, in the Community Room of the Jackson County Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers’ offices. This year’s award recipients were Bev Kirschner, Kathy Boe, Kathleen Clemons, Connie Gates, and Edith Kling. All have made a meaningful impact in the community. Presenters noted their dedication and compassion for others, which has touched countless lives both locally and abroad. Sheriff Duane Waldera emceed the event. Guest speakers included Pastor Jenny Hatleli, Jackson County Board Chairman Jeff Amo, Geri Zlesak, Sarah Halverson, Amanda Karau-Skar, and Lori Johnson. The Jackson County Women in History Program is a collaborative effort between Interfaith Caregivers, Black River Health’s Volunteer Services, the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Jackson County, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, and the Jackson County Board.
