The 4th annual Caroline Kersting Memorial Golf Outing took place on June 10th, at Skyline Golf Course in Black RIver Falls. Fourteen teams played 18 holes of golf, on a perfect Saturday to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Caroline Kersting lost her battle with Alzheimer’s disease on June 8th, 2020. Since that time, her daughter, Mary Gerdes, has made it a priority in her life to advocate for treatment, caregiver support and to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. “Having taken care of my mom until her death, I know first hand how difficult the disease is, not just for the patient, but for the family and especially the caregivers.
This year’s annual golf outing has surpassed the previous year’s totals by more than $2,000. “The generosity of our community, family and friends has made this year’s fundraiser so wonderful, I simply can’t find the right words, other than a huge thank you” said Gerdes. So far, Team Gram Shal’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising efforts has exceeded $7,000.
Gerdes said “We have one more big fundraiser for the year, and that is a raffle, for a Terry Redlin print. There are only 504 tickets available for “After the Storm”, Redlin’s final painting prior to his death, from Alzheimer’s disease”
Next year will be the 5th Annual outing, on June 8th, 2024 at Skyline Golf Course.
