Adeline M. Rippley, 87, formerly of Waumandee, died on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Homeplace
of Mondovi under the care of St. Croix Hospice.   
Adeline was born on the family home farm in American Valley on Thanksgiving Day in rural Arcadia on
November 28, 1935, to Benedict “Bennie” and Theresa (Reck) Sonsalla.  She was united in marriage to
Charles Rippley on July 7, 1962, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Arcadia.  Together the couple farmed
in Waumandee and were blessed with two children: Patricia and Edward.  Adeline had many talents in
her lifetime.  A seamstress that could sew anything from her sister Evelyn’s wedding dress to
bridesmaid’s dresses for her sister Mary Rose and countless amounts of quilts and clothes. Another
talent was making beautifully decorated cakes for many weddings, anniversaries and birthdays. She also
enjoyed growing large pumpkins for the granddaughters for Halloween. 
Adeline and Charley enjoyed traveling around the United States and Europe learning about their family
heritage. On weekends, the couple would be seen at the local dance halls listening and dancing to old-
time music. 
She was a member of St. Boniface Parish and the PCCW, Garden Valley Homemakers, Waumandee First
Responders, Buffalo County Farm Bureau, 4-H leader and the Waumandee Lions Club. 
Adeline is survived by her children: Edward (Laura) Rippley of Waumandee and Patricia (Wayne
Saathoff) Rippley of Brooklyn Park, MN; granddaughters: Andrea (Nick Schlais) Rippley-Schlais, Ella (Erik
Twidt) Rippley-Twidt, and Anna (John Bragger) Rippley; great-grandchildren: Eli and Evie Twidt and
Grace Schlais; sister: Mary Rose (James) Skroch of Arcadia; sisters-in-law: Elsie (Daniel) Brommer of
Waumandee, Phyllis (John) Sonsalla of Darlington, WI, and Barbara Rippley of Northfield, MN; and many
other relatives and friends.  
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles in 2021; sister: Evelyn (Alphonse) Woychik;
nephew: Peter Woychik; brother-in-law: LaVern Rippley; and sister-in-law: Mary Lisowski.

Mondovi and St Croix Hospice for their care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 6th, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waumandee with
Father Doss officiating.  Family and friends are welcome for visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time
of service at church.  Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.  To express condolences to her
