Alice Lavon Klevgard of Taylor, Wisconsin, went to spend eternity with the Lord Jesus on June
4th , 2024 at the age of 89.
Alice left this life peacefully following a week of her children and friends at her side. Alice is
survived by her husband of 70 years, Mayland Klevgard; 6 children; Dale (Nancy) of Hixton,
Wisconsin, Kathleen (David) Pickering of Taylor, Wisconsin, Steven Klevgard of Whitehall,
Wisconsin, Timothy (Lee) of Elk Mound, Wisconsin, Alan of Taylor, Wisconsin, and Jason of
Taylor, Wisconsin. Alice is also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.
Alice is survived by one sister, Mary Lou Maldonado (Joe) of Northfield, Wisconsin. Alice was
preceded in death by her father, Emil Leland Hedberg and her mother Thelma Hedberg.
Alice was a devoted wife to Mayland and cared for their children alone while Mayland was
stationed in Germany and Vietnam during his military career. Alice was a foster home parent
and an in-home caregiver for veterans. Alice also cared for others outside of her home. Alice
worked for a time as a Nurse’s Aide at the Heritage Home in Black River Falls and drove school
bus for the Taylor School District.
Alice was a lifelong church member and always active in the congregation. Alice served as a
Sunday School teacher, was active in the Ladies Aid and hosted an annual Christmas party at
her home that included singing Christmas Songs, a potluck supper and gift exchange.
Alice was an avid Milwaukee Brewers baseball fan and could always be found listening to Bob
Uekcer announce the games on the radio while she was baking, cooking or cleaning dishes.
Alice always said she was “watching” the game on the radio because she could “see” it better
than on the television.
Alice Klevgard’s funeral service was held on Saturday, June 8th at New Hope Community
Lutheran Church in Northfield, Wisconsin. She is buried in the Trempealeau Valley Lutheran
Church Cemetery close to her parents. Alice will be greatly missed by her family and all those
who had the privilege of sharing in her life here.
