Amyah Sweet Addison, Mąąšųpį

Amyah Sweet Addison, Mąąšųpį [Pretty Little Quill Feather] from Black River Falls,
Wisconsin, walked into eternal life on July 28, 2026, in Hixton, Wisconsin. Amyah was
born on October 4, 2007, to Corena Mae Whitecloud and Aaron George Addison Sr., in
Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Through the way she lived in relation with everyone she met,
she became known as a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, faithfulness, and cultural
pride, leaving an enduring impact on the hearts of all who were blessed to know her as
a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, auntie, granddaughter, and friend.
From the moment she entered this world, Amyah Sweet carried a radiant beauty
and a smile that filled every room with warmth, light, and joy. Throughout her life, she
found deep happiness in dancing old-style jingle dress at powwows, attending
ceremonies, and learning and speaking the Ho-Chunk language and culture. These
traditions were not only a source of pride for Amyah, but also a gift she lovingly shared
with her family and friends, strengthening the bonds between them and honoring those
who came before her. Firm and unwavering in her faith, Amyah was a devoted member
of the Native American Church, teaching her the principles of unconditional love she
shared with many.
As a recent high school graduate of the 2026 class, Amyah’s kindness led her to
want to become a nurse, as caring for others became a way of life she cherished
immensely. Whereas family and friends were her anchor, the reciprocity of giving guided
her life in harmony with her heritage and found creative expression in many forms: from
her love of ribbon-skirt and regalia making, paaxge, and her quickness in the kitchen,
her presence left each person with the unmistakable feeling that they were seen,
cherished, and that they truly mattered. Her living memory will remain a lasting blessing,
deeply cherished by all who knew her and profoundly missed by all whose lives were
touched by her love.
Amyah Sweet joins her ancestors and relatives, including maternal grandparents
Athena Long and Johnny Whitecloud, her Naani Chanina Whitecloud, and her brothers
Quame Addison, Triston Addison, and Marc Anderson, and sister Gianna Yellowbird.
She is survived by her parents, paternal grandparents, Marty and Arilda Chavez, and
her siblings: Dayvina, Autry, Emjay, Aaron, and Tyin; niece and nephew, Azias Pauliot
and Chanina Shegonee; and in addition, she leaves behind many extended relatives.
Prayer service for Amyah will take place Friday, July 31 st , 2026 at 5:00 PM, with
the Native American Church taking place immediately after at 7:00 PM. A final meal will
take place at 10:00 AM, with commitment services and final viewings starting at 12:00
PM. Amyah will be laid to rest at the Decorah Cemetery with Pallbearers: Justin
Anderson, Paxon WhiteEagle, Dustin Funmaker, King Brown, Kia Alamanza, Aaron
Day, Mason Longtail, Cardell Sincere Longtail.
