Ardell Charles Torud, age 82, of Holmen, formerly of Whitehall, passed away
with family by his side on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Gundersen Health
System in La Crosse, WI. 
Ardell was born on June 28, 1941 in Whitehall. Ardell married the love of his
life, Patricia, on June 20, 1959 in La Crosse. Ardie and Patty were blessed with
61 years of marriage, 4 children, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren
arriving this summer, and a life full of wonderful memories. Ardie took great
pride in his family, faith and friends. 
Ardie farmed for many years, then transitioned to factory work from which he
retired from in 2007.
Ardie and Patty attended an incredible amount of activities and sporting
events throughout the years. Ardie could always be counted on to update
anyone on sports, whether it be high school, college or professional teams. 
Ardie’s fastpitch softball career led him to develop many friendships and
create great memories. He and his family spent countless days and nights at
the local ballparks. 
Those left to cherish Ardell’s memory include his children and
grandchildren, daughter, Pamela (Michael) Thompson and grandchildren,
Tyler (Haley) and Alexis; daughter, Paula (Joseph) Carty and grandchildren
Adam, Macy and Aaron (friend Gabby Lewis); daughter, Penny (Thomas)
Beers and grandchildren Brooklyn, Brynn and Branson; son, Aaron (Karen)
Torud and grandchildren, Mitchell (Hannah) and Bridget. He is also survived
by a brother, Michael (Rachel) Torud; three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Giese,
Roger (Barbara) Kjos and David (Sandy) Kjos and many nieces and nephews.
Ardie was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Torud; parents, Milo and
Helen Torud; a sister, Marlys Giese; his father and mother-in-law, Paul and
Florence Kjos; two brothers-in-law, Spencer Kjos and Gerald Kjos; a niece,
Tammy Zanter and a great-nephew, Adam Zanter. 
A service will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall on
Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. A visitation for family and friends will
be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Ardell’s family wants to express their appreciation of care to Gundersen
Health System in La Crosse and La Crescent Health Services.
