The Black River Falls, Lincoln, and Melrose-Mindoro FFA Chapters are organizing a
shoe drive to benefit the Jackson County Animal Shelter during National FFA Week,
February 17-24. Shoes can be in any condition and can be any type, including dress,
sneakers, boots, and sandals. They do need to be in pairs. A company pays the shelter for
the shoes and they are either renovated or recycled to benefit people in developing
countries.
Collection containers will be located at Hixton Stop and Go Travel Plaza, Melrose
Express, Mindoro Co-op, Northwood Vet Service, Security Financial Bank (both Black
River Falls and Alma Center), Scholze’s Ace Home Center, and Theisen’s Home-Farm-
Auto. Additional drop-off containers are at Black River Falls High School and Middle,
Lincoln High School and Elementary School, and Melrose Mindoro High School and
Elementary School Offices.
The FFA is a national organization that makes a positive difference in the lives of its
members by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career
success through agricultural education.
