Arvid Chester Arneson, age 81, passed away on July 10, 2023. Arvid was born on December 16,
1941, to parents Palmer and Esther (Butler) Arneson. Arvid was raised in the Eleva Strum area
and educated in the Strum School System. Arvid met and married the love of his life Bonnie
Alvestad on October 12, 1963.
Arvid was a long-time iron worker who built bridges all over Wisconsin; it’s a safe bet that you
have been over one of his bridges in your travels. Arvid was at heart a loving husband, father,
grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family over everything else.
The family remembers him as a hero, humanitarian, and teacher. Arvid took a lot of young men
under his dedicated mentorship and taught them all he knew about the trade of iron working,
imparting his knowledge to the next generation.
Arvid is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie (Alvestad) Arneson; daughters, Melissa Genna
(husband Anthony), and Shelly Hanson (husband Mark); sons Kent (wife Carrie), Scott (wife
Lisa), Donald, and David Arneson; sisters Audrey Fimrite and Sonya Elder; Keith Lamp (wife
Tatum), Haydie Schnur (husband Casey), Mickoli Arneson, Ashley Arneson, Alisha Bjerke
(Arneson) (husband James), Adam Arneson, Merissa Genna, Cory Genna, Cody Genna and
fiancé Kayla Bennet; step-grandchildren Tyler, Trenton, Mari; great-grandchildren Matthew
Lamp, Kyler Lamp, Shelby Lamp, Anthony Lamp, Nevada Weihrouch, Austin Bjerke, Harper
Bjerke, Arya Dahlenburg, Talyn Dahlenburg, Jaxyn Genna, Cassandrya Genna, Trey
Lunderville, Aadyn Johnson -Genna, Giavanna Genna, Amelia Genna.
Arvid is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Verlin Arneson; sister Lovonne Johnson;
grandson Matthew Lamp, and great-granddaughters Xzandrya Genna
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral
Home in Hixton, WI, 128 S Hoffman Street, and again on Saturday, July 15 from Noon to 4 pm
with a funeral service to begin at 4 pm with Pastor Todd Arneson officiating.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
