Barbara Ann (Bue) Peterson, 91, of Hixton, Wis., passed away peacefully at her home on
Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Barbara was born to Roy and Inez (Dunn) Bue on September 14, 1933, in Taylor, Wis., where
she spent her childhood and later graduated from Taylor High School with the class of 1951.
Immediately after high school, Barbara moved from Taylor to Milwaukee, where she worked and
eventually met her future husband, Donald Peterson.
On June 13, 1953, Barbara and Donald were married at the Taylor Lutheran Church before
returning to Milwaukee for a number of years. Eventually, the family moved back to the Taylor-
Hixton area, and Barbara began working for Norplex (later Isola) Laminate Manufacturer. She
would stay with the company for almost 30 years until her retirement.
Barbara was an active member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hixton and shared her
talent for quilting with the church quilting group. She was very artistic and enjoyed knitting,
crocheting, and even dabbled in woodworking. Barbara also enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by her children; Diana Benedict, Kathy (Forrest Hodge) Thomas, and Randy
(Belinda) Peterson, her sisters; Ruth (Arnold) Simonson, Mary Rose, Charlotte Johnson, and
Kathy (Warren) Benedict, her grandchildren; Erin Reisman, Kyle Benedict, Tina Visger, Laura
Arnhoelter, Matthew Peterson, Stacy Peterson, Marcus Thomas, and Nick Thomas, as well as
seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and other friends and relatives.
Barbara is predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Leo Peterson, her parents Roy and Inez
Bue, her sons Michael Peterson and Donald Joel Peterson, her two brothers Larry and Robert
Bue, and two brothers-in-law, James Rose and David Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hixton on Friday, October
25, 2024. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor
Steve Aldach officiating. Burial and committal service will follow immediately after at Trinity Rest
Cemetery in Hixton. All those in attendance are invited to join the family afterward for a meal at
the church.
