Barbara Ann Olstad, 78, passed away peacefully at Black River Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 13, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.

Barbara was born November 30, 1942, to Alvin and Mabel (Lien) Johnson. She was the youngest of seven children.

Barbara married Harlan Olstad on October 3, 1959. They were married for 62 years this coming October, and farmed near Northfield for 43 of those years. They raised two daughters and were blessed with five grandsons and two great grandsons.

She enjoyed traveling with family and friends taking many fishing trips to Canada as well as visiting Norway, Alaska, and Hawaii just to name a few. She loved going to sporting events and cheering on her grandsons. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Barbara was an avid gardener and loved to sew.

Barb was extremely involved with her church and had very strong faith.

Surviving Barb are her husband Harlan, her daughters Sheri Ripp (David) and Dena Millis, her grandson Christopher Ripp (Kelly), Nicholas Ripp, Jacob Millis (Vanessa), Joel Millis (Olivia), Jordan Millis, and her great-grandsons Weston and Nolan. Also surviving are her sister, Beverly Gearing (Richard) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are her parents Alvin and Mabel Johnson, her brothers Ernest, Clifford and Jay Johnson, and two sisters Elva Roessler, and Marjorie Mickelson.

A Memorial Service for Barb will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the New Hope Community Lutheran Church, W16346 Dettinger Road, west of Northfield WI. Pastor Dale Klevgard will officiate. Friends may call on the family during a visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. A reception/luncheon will follow at the church.
