The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects and seized a large amount of drugs and firearms, after they executed a search warrant in the Town of Sheldon, near Ontario.
It happened Thursday afternoon, shortly after 4:30, on Opportunity Road. During the search of the residence, investigators located over two pounds of methamphetamine, as well as amounts of suspected heroin, fentanyl, marijuana, other narcotics, and prescription drugs. Twenty-five firearms of different makes, models, and calibers, some believed to be stolen, were also seized.
34 year-old Gabriel Wilcox and 28 year-old Ember Powell were both arrested for maintaining a drug trafficking place, with additional charges pending following the completion of the investigation. The Officers say Wilcox is restricted from possessing firearms due to previous felony convictions.
The warrant was served by the Monroe County Combined Tactical Unit. The investigation was a joint effort between the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, West Central Metropolitan Enforcement Group (WCMEG), the Richland- Iowa-Grant Task Force, and law enforcement agencies from Richland Center, La Crosse, Vernon, and Richland Counties.
