Betty L. Meacham, 88 of Tomah died Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the Serenity House, Tomah. She was born on January 28, 1935, to John B., Sr. and Delores M. (Bradford) Franklin in Madison. After relocating to the Tomah area, Betty met her future husband, Jerry Lee Meacham and on June 24, 1952, they were united in at the Warrens Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2014. In addition to being a wife and homemaker, Betty worked as a certified nursing assistant. Throughout the years she worked for several area healthcare facilities in the Sparta, Tomah and Black River Falls areas. Betty worked up until the age of 82 years. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed crocheting, reading and canning the freshly picked vegetables out of the family garden. She was kind and tender-hearted, but also strong-willed and fiercely independent.

She is survived by 3 children, Dixie (Fred) Johnson of Tomah, Kathy (Ron) Nicks of Tomah and Jerry Lee, Jr. (Barb) of Alma Center, 7 grandchildren, Tanya (Tim) Marten, Donyell (Brian) Zingler, Stephanie (Josh) Armstrong, Jared Meacham, Sheena Nicks, Aaron (Amanda) Meacham, Logan (Angie) Meacham, many great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a brother Bill Franklin. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, a grandson Luke, siblings, Delores Cefalu, Ruth Brabant, Georgia DaSilva, Doad and Dick Franklin, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bud Meacham, Ethel, Opal, Dallas, Edward and Eugene.

A Family Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, 11:00 AM, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah. Pastor Shane Haynes will officate. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Mather. Relatives are invited for a time of visitation on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
