The Black River Falls Common Council met at City Hall on June 3rd, with all alderpersons present, including two attending via Zoom. Mayor Jay Eddy presided over the session.
The Council approved previous meeting minutes and heard reports from the Utility Commission, Hiring Committee, and Board of Review. They also approved a series of 2025–2026 alcohol and retail license renewals.
Key decisions included:
Approval of Resolution 2025-03, establishing an intergovernmental agreement with the Town of Brockway regarding East Lincoln Street.
Passage of Ordinance 895, setting ATV and UTV operating hours from 5:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., with one dissenting vote.
A lengthy discussion was held on implementing sex offender residency restrictions, considering safety zones, types of offenses, legal implications, and enforcement challenges. The Council reached a consensus to draft an ordinance.
In a closed session, council members discussed a legal matter involving Wal-Mart’s property assessment. Upon returning to open session, they voted to accept a settlement offer.
