The Black River Falls Common Council met Monday evening at City Hall, with Mayor Jay Eddy presiding. Six alderpersons attended, including two participating remotely, while two members were excused.

During citizen comments, resident John Dryak raised concerns about traffic speeds and pedestrian safety downtown. He urged the council to consider lowering the speed limit on Main Street between Water and 5th Streets, adding crosswalk signage, and conducting a traffic speed study. Dryak also expressed concerns about the growing number of electric bikes on the Foundation Trail and downtown sidewalks, recommending additional safety signage.

Council members approved minutes from previous meetings and accepted reports from the Utility Commission and Board of Review.

The council also approved renewals for Class A, B, and C beer, wine, liquor, and wholesale retailer licenses for the 2026-27 licensing year. One alderperson abstained from the vote.

Members approved a temporary alcohol beverage license for the Black River Youth Hockey Gun Banquet on June 27 at the Milt Lunda Memorial Arena, as well as a temporary license for the Rotary Club’s Festival in the Park on July 11 at Tyler Street Park.

In other business, the council approved an agreement allowing the U.S. military to conduct training exercises in the parking lot in front of the Black River Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
