BRF Common Council Meeting Summary

The Black River Falls Common Council met in special session Wednesday evening at City Hall. Mayor Jay Eddy presided over the meeting, with six alderpersons participating, including three attending remotely by Zoom.

Council members approved the minutes from the May 5 meeting and reviewed department head reports.

Among updates:

Street work on North 8th Street is progressing well.
A new television display has been installed in the City Hall lobby to promote community events, with programming managed by the Chamber of Commerce.
The city’s updated website has officially launched.
The Hoffman Aquatic Center will open on schedule, but the tube slide remains closed due to a major leak in the water supply line pending repairs.

The council also approved Ordinance 904, updating city code regarding fire inspections. The ordinance allows the fire chief to reduce inspection frequency to once per calendar year, provided inspections occur no more than 15 months apart.

Two certified survey maps were approved:

One for property at 1114 Pierce Street.
Another for properties at 1005 and 1007 Spruce Street.

Financial business included approval of:

April vouchers totaling just under $324,000.
The April Treasurer’s Report.
The April Revenue and Expense Report.

The meeting adjourned at 6:24 p.m.
