A big honor for a local student — Jackson Tiedens, a senior at Black River Falls High School, has been awarded a 2025 Student Production Award by the Upper Midwest Emmy Foundation.

The award, presented Friday, April 11 in Bloomington, Minnesota, recognizes Jackson’s powerful feature in the Arts, Entertainment, and Cultural Affairs category. His story highlights how mentors are helping Native American students reconnect with their heritage through a student drum group.

The piece earned Jackson the prestigious crystal pillar award and praise from his media adviser, Julie Tiedens, who called it a proud moment for the school and the community.

The Student Production Awards are part of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – Upper Midwest Chapter, honoring outstanding media work from high school and college students across the region.

Congratulations to Jackson for this well-deserved recognition!
