Bruce Frederick Baker

Prior to his enlistment, Bruce had the distinction of being the very first person on the draft list—a fact he liked to joke about, saying it was the only list he had ever been number one on. Bruce enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.

Following his discharge from the military, Bruce began working for Union Camp as a sales manager. He dedicated the next 34 years to the company before retiring in 2005.
On January 20, 1968, Bruce married the love of his life, Kathleen Feindt. Together they shared many years until her passing on March 27, 2002.

Wanting to remain an active part of his community, Bruce served on the Tomah Lake Committee and was a member of his local American Legion. He also volunteered with the Military Honors Program firing team. As a veteran and former casualty assistance officer, Bruce considered it a great honor to serve fellow veterans and their families through the Military Honors Program.

When Bruce wasn’t working or volunteering his time, he could often be found fishing on local lakes and rivers or planning his next big fishing trip to Canada. Bruce will be remembered for his kind heart, generous nature, and willingness to give his time in service to others. He will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Bruce is survived by his two brothers, John (Rose) Baker of Lake City and William (Alice) Baker of Prior Lake; sister, Jean Solheid of St. James; significant other, Jane Markham; and his very good fishing buddy, Mr. Kim House. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
