Road injuries are the leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United
States, and more than half of car seats are not used or installed correctly. The best way to keep
your child safe in the car is to use the right car seat in the right way.
Come get your car seat professionally checked by a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety
Technician (CPST) on Thursday, October 19th from 2-4:30 p.m. at Western Technical College
Public Safety Training Facility at 11177 County Rd. A in Sparta. This event is open to the public
with no appointment needed and no wait.
Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71%. A certified
CPST can help you select the right seat, ensure a proper harness fit, install your car seat
correctly, and know when to move to the next seat.
Car seat checks are always available at the Monroe County Health Department by appointment
along with car seats that are available for income-eligible people. Follow us on Facebook and
Instagram for more.
