Charles Henry Stenberg, age 92, of Blair, formerly of LaCrosse and Ettrick, died
on Saturday, August 24, 2024 in the Grand View Care Center in Blair.
Charles was born on February 14, 1932 in French Creek to Carl and Helga (Volla)
Stenberg.
He married Gloria Hoff on October 29, 1955. They adopted one son, Rodney
(Kathy) and had a foster son, Dan (Vickie) Gove. Charles is also survived by a
nephew, David Reese; three granddaughters, Lyndsey, Laci and Kolby and six
great-grandchildren, all from Mississippi.
Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Charles
and Gloria lived in Milwaukee where Charles was employed as a security guard
for Allis Chalmers. They later moved to LaCrosse and then to Blair before
returning to LaCrosse to be closer to the doctors and hospital. Charles and
Gloria came back to Blair to the Grand View Assisted Living and later the Grand
View Care Center.
Gloria preceded Charles in death on July 30, 2021.
Charles loved watching television and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by a brother,
Hilman; a sister, Helen and his in-laws, Clarence and Irene Hoff.
Graveside services with military rites conducted by the Runnestrand-Pederson
American Legion Post #354 will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
in the French Creek Lutheran Cemetery in rural Ettrick. Pastor Barbara Knutson
will officiate.
The Jack Funeral Home in Blair is assisting the family with arrangements.
