The Black River Falls Common Council met in a special session on July 16th. Council President Busse presided in Mayor Eddy’s absence. One key highlight from the evening was Mark Nordahl officially taking the oath of office as the new Fire Chief, with 18 citizens in attendance for the occasion.

Council members approved minutes from several recent committee meetings and discussed concerns about motorized scooters on downtown sidewalks, raised by a local business owner. The City Administrator will explore options and work with the City Attorney on a potential ordinance.

Department heads gave updates, including positive feedback on the well-attended Festival in the Park and progress in filling a vacant police officer position.

The council also approved a corrected certified survey map for land on Melrose and South Eleventh Streets, a sign variance for a residential district, June expense vouchers totaling over $406,000, and financial reports for the month.

The meeting adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
