The Black River Falls community showed its purple pride this weekend at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, raising more than $35,000. The event drew dozens of walkers, each with their own story, united in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

Funds raised will support families in the Black River Falls area with care, education, advocacy, and the Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 helpline. Dave Grams, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter, called the walk “extraordinary,” praising the community’s energy, generosity, and determination.

More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s today, including over 110,000 people in Wisconsin. In Jackson County, an estimated 583 residents over 65 are living with dementia.

Donations can still be made through December 31 at act.alz.org/blackriverfalls.

Sponsors included Edward Jones, Ho-Chunk Nation, S&S Distributing, Theisen’s, the Lions Club of Black River Falls, Black River Healthcare, Walmart, and local media partner WWIS Radio.
