The Eau Claire Municipal Band and historic Donald “Sarge” Boyd bandshell in Owen Park go hand and hand. And what better way for a band to show its appreciation than through music?

For its second concert of the season, the municipal band will perform music inspired by its surroundings at 7:30 p.m. MONDAY, JUNE 17. Songs include “Moon River,” “Down By The Riverside,” “Everything Is Beautiful” and “Star Dust.”

The program also features long-time band member and trumpet player Miranda Bauer, who will perform “The Maid of the Mist Polka,” accompanied by the band.

Concerts are free to the public and continue every Monday evening through July 29.

Nonprofit organizations are invited to take turns hosting concessions during the concerts as a fundraiser. To coordinate dates or follow concert updates, organizations and the public can visit the band’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/ecmunicipalband.

The Eau Claire Municipal Band is one of the longest-running concert bands in Wisconsin, tracing its origins to Bock’s Boys Band in 1902. Known in subsequent years as the Eau Claire Boys Band, the Wisconsin State Band-Eau Claire, and the Liberty Band, the Eau Claire Municipal Band came upon its current name in 1927.

The 2024 concert season is made possible in part through the generosity of the Clearwater Kiwanis Club, Eckroth Music, Royal Credit Union, Schmitt Music, Visit Eau Claire, Xcel Energy, and the Louis and Janet Frase Fund and Community Fund, both held at the Eau Claire Community Foundation.
