A 38-year-old Appleton man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing another man and his daughter. Karl Hess still maintains his innocence even after a Manitowoc County jury found him guilty in June. Hess was convicted on two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the shooting deaths of 51-year-old Richard Miller and his 19-year-old daughter, Jocelyn. Prosecutors told the court Hess killed victims because he had money troubles and was going to take a large amount of cash he knew was being held in the Miller home. Hess has no chance for parole.
