Daniel “Butch” C. Abts, 78, of Arcadia, died on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Sacred Heart Hospital in
Eau Claire.
Butch was born in Arcadia on October 8, 1943, to George and Margaret (Zeller) Abts. After graduating
from high school, Butch enlisted into the Wisconsin National Guard. He was united in marriage to Patty
Pierzina on August 18, 1984, at Fagernes Lutheran Church, rural Blair. Butch was employed as a Ready-
Mix driver, but also did many concrete side jobs for anyone who asked. Butch proudly volunteered with
the Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Department, serving 24 years before his retirement. He was a member of Holy
Family Parish and the American Legion Post #186. When he wasn’t working, Butch enjoyed socializing
with others in the community, bowling in leagues and tournaments, and partaking in outdoor activities
such as camping, fishing, gardening, and woodworking. Most of all, Butch loved to spend time with his
family and grandsons, for whom he adored. His heart of gold and willingness to serve his community
will be forever cherished by his loved ones.
