Daniel Eugene Funmaker, 62, died peacefully at his home in Black River Falls, Wisconsin,
surrounded by his loved ones on April 9, 2024.
Daniel was born to James and Ruth (Greyhair) Funmaker on September 19, 1961, in Black
River Falls, Wisconsin. Daniel and his siblings attended and graduated from the Flandreau
Indian School in South Dakota.
Daniel held a variety of occupations throughout his life, but when not working, he loved
photography, bingo, and listening to tribal music, especially drums.
He is survived by his siblings, Eliza Green, James Funmaker, Kyle Funmaker, Sybil (Al) Grey
Owl, Ethel Funmaker, Eloise Funmaker, Brent Funmaker, Joann Jones, Joyce (Jon) Warner,
and Bonnie (Sheldon) Hanson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Daniel is preceded in death by both parents, James and Ruth Funmaker, his brothers Gilbert
Funmaker, Kent Funmaker, Myron Funmaker, and Walter Funmaker, and sisters Ana Rae
Funmaker and Prudence Funmaker.
Funeral services for Daniel will be held at the Indian Mission Community Building (W8813
Mission Road, Black River Falls, WI, 54615) on Thursday, April 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00
p.m. followed by burial at Decorah Cemetery. Visitation will take place the night before services
at the Buswell Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
