It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we gather to remember the life of Dave Frenz, a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and a dear friend to many. Dave’s journey began on January 22nd 1955, and it is with great sorrow that we announce his passing on July 27th 2023. Dave was a man of deep faith, and his love for God extended beyond the walls of the church. He taught his family the beauty of worshiping in all of God’s creation, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. Whether it was cycling, snowshoeing, fishing, hiking, or climbing, Dave’s heart was at its fullest when surrounded by nature and his beloved family. His compassion and kindness knew no bounds, as he continuously sought to assist those in need. Dave’s heart was big enough to embrace animals in need of love and care, often fostering and adopting to keep furry friends together. He even took it upon himself to protect wildlife, patrolling the neighborhood roads to help turtles safely cross traffic. Reliable and steadfast, Dave was someone you could always count on. He possessed a genius for turning simple things into meaningful moments, like savoring an Ocean Spray drink or finding peace through yoga practice with friends. As part of The Nail Boutique, he demonstrated creative organization and unwavering drive, inspiring those around him. A natural leader and father figure, Dave was a guiding light for his family and a source of support for his community. Every goodbye was accompanied by an “I love you,” a testament to the depth of his love for his family and friends. Dave had a gift for humor that brought joy to all fortunate enough to know him. His keen sense of observation made him a great listener, and he had a unique ability to empathize and immerse himself in others’ interests, making them his own. As a proud grandfather, Dave delighted in sharing his passions and values with the next generation. Active in his community, whether in Milwaukee or Tomah, he was always eager to participate in local events and lend a helping hand wherever needed. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and genuine care for others, and we find comfort in knowing that his soul now rests in peace. An early riser who embraced each day with enthusiasm, Dave attended events, concerts, celebrations, and charitable functions, where he radiated his superhero-like presence whenever someone needed support. Dave was not only a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend but also a silent caretaker for many, always extending his compassion to those who might not have even realized how much they needed it. His compass was always true, guiding him towards simplicity and appreciation for the finer things in life. Today, we say goodbye to a remarkable man, a soul whose generosity knew no bounds, and whose love touched the lives of countless people and animals. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind. May his spirit find eternal peace in the embrace of God’s love. Rest in peace, Dave and Dad.You will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. A Celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a time to share memories beginning at 6:30 p.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com
