Jackson County Behavioral Health & Interfaith Volunteers have teamed up to offer a FREE de-escalation training on March 8, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The training will be held at Interfaith Volunteers at 1451 Tyler St., Black River Falls. Interfaith Volunteers will be providing lunch. The training will focus on strategies that participants can use in responding to and helping others that may be in crisis and connect them with the appropriate resources. The training is open to anyone interested, including community members, clergy, human service agencies, law enforcement, etc.

The training will be provided by Dr. Debra Murray, PsyD, CSAC, ICS. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Viterbo University, Debra attended St. Mary’s University in Rochester, Minnesota to obtain a Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychological Services. While working at Mayo Health System in La Crosse, Debra went on to pursue her Doctor of Psychology degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. She worked at Viterbo University for many years, where she was the Director of Counseling Education programs. She is currently the Clinical Director for Behavioral Health at Scenic Bluffs Community Health Centers.
