Dennis Oligney, age 77, of Merrillan, passed away on January 1, 2023, at Angels Grace Hospice in
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin after a short illness.
Dennis was born May 1, 1945, to the late Maynard and Delores (Nibbe) Oligney. He was raised in Black
River Falls and graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1964, where he was a basketball and
baseball standout. After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.
He married the late Sherry (Hicks) Oligney in 1968 and they had three daughters. They divorced after 25
years of marriage.
Dennis was a long-time over-the-road semi driver, starting at Dadco Foods delivering frozen Roma
pizzas. His favorite driving partner was his Uncle, Larry Peterson. He was a volunteer fire fighter in
Merrillan. In retirement, he spent his summers camping in Hatfield with Peggy, enjoying the outdoors on
his pontoon, fishing, and spending time with friends, family, and his dog, Buster.
Dennis is survived by his longtime partner, Peggy Casper; their children, Denise (Tony) Oligney- Estill,
Sara (Paul) Groth, Traci (Brad) Kokke, David (Rita) Casper, and Jennifer Hill (Sam Prindle); grandchildren,
Jacob Groth, Julia Groth, Ella Oligney- Estill, Carson Kokke, Abigail Hill, and Ryan Casper. He is further
survived by his siblings, Bruce (Doris) Oligney, Nancy Hagen, along with many nieces, nephews, and
other family and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, brother in-law Kris Hagen, and his uncle Larry Peterson.
Funeral services for Dennis will take place Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Skyline Golf Course at
11:00 a.m. service. Pastor Terry Marg will officiate. Friends and family are welcome to visitation from
10:00 a.m. until time of service. A meal will follow the service. Interment will take place at a later date.
