State health officials have confirmed a second case of measles in Wisconsin this year. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Public Health Madison and Dane County say the case involves a Dane County resident who was exposed during international travel.
Officials say the case is not related to the measles case confirmed last week in Waukesha County. No additional personal or medical details are being released due to privacy protections.
DHS and local public health officials are working to identify and notify people who may have been exposed, including coordinating with the University of Wisconsin–Madison regarding potential on-campus exposure sites. Any locations of possible public exposure will be posted on the DHS Outbreaks and Investigations webpage.
Health officials continue to remind residents that vaccination is the best protection against measles.
