On August 17, 2023, at approximately 7:13am, the Jackson County Public Safety Answering
Point (PSAP) received a call from a female party inquiring how to file a restraining order against
her husband. She went on to report that he had been following her and while she was stopped at a
gas station in the Town of Millston that morning, he had gotten in her car, attempted to take her
phone, and drove a short distance with her in the vehicle, against her will and without her
consent. She advised she was on her way to the Sheriff’s Office to meet with a Deputy about the
restraining order.
A short time later, at approximately 7:34am, the PSAP received a 911 call from an employee
within the Jackson County Courthouse, reporting that there was a female in the building, visibly
distraught and hiding in the public bathroom from her husband. Jackson County Deputies
responded to the location and while enroute, encountered the male party in question dressed in
camouflage clothing, in an unauthorized area of the Law Enforcement Center. The male was
taken into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail on
multiple charges related to this incident.
This was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
