Dontay Edward Cloud Hąąpra Maąnį (day walker) 23, walked on peacefully on
September 14, 2026. He was born in Black River Falls, WI on May 12, 2003, to Darcy
Joyce Alice Funmaker and Lohman Edward Cloud.
Dontay was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend. He graduated
from Black River Falls High school and brought a gentle, loving spirit into the lives of
everyone who knew him. He was known as a “gentle giant,” with a soft gentle humor,
always joking around reminding those around him to “calm,” a phrase that was
especially needed with all his sister’s propaganda.
Dontay enjoyed listening to music, going to movies, spending time with his family, and,
above all, being surrounded by the people he loved. He was a #1 Milwaukee Bucks fan
and loved watching basketball. Throughout his life he played baseball, basketball,
football, wrestling and golf. He also had a special love for shooting three-pointers. One
of his greatest joys was sharing his basketball skills with his baby sister, Leilani, whom
he adored and always be “Toto D”
Dontay also loved his Ho-Chunk language and culture, taking pride in his heritage and
the traditions that connected him to his family. He loved his mother’s cooking and
enjoyed food, often finding happiness in the simple moments of gathering around a
meal with family. His warm heart, calm nature, sense of humor, and love for his family
will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his parents, Darcy Funmaker and Lohman Cloud; sisters, Desiree
Rave, Kassandra Rave, Vanetta Cloud, and Leilani Cotto; brother, Dillard Cloud; nieces,
Eliyanah and Aubriella; nephews, Eliyas and Jeremiah; along with many other loving
family members, childhood best friends; Jaelyn Cloud, Silas Cleveland, Ollie Cleveland,
Geoffrey Garvin, and Danah Cloud and friends who were blessed to know him.
Dontay was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mahlon Funmaker and
Brenda Fisher, and paternal grandparents, Dillard and Marcella (Blackdeer) Cloud.
Though his time with us was far too short, the love Dontay gave and the memories he
created will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever. His gentle spirit, his
love of basketball, his “calm” reminders, his pride in his Ho-Chunk heritage, and the joy
he brought to those around him will never be forgotten.
A brief visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00
p.m. at the Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls, WI. On Thursday, September
17th, visitation will be held at the Blackdeer Homestead (N5804 Blackdeer Road, Black
River Falls, WI 54615) from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Following the
service, burial will take place at the Blackdeer Homestead.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider supporting mental health awareness
and those who may be struggling.
