The Wisconsin Department of Justice is reminding residents that this Saturday, April 26, 2025, is National Drug Take Back Day. Over 170 events are scheduled across the state, with more than 275 law enforcement agencies participating.

Attorney General Josh Kaul is encouraging everyone to safely dispose of unwanted or unused prescription and over-the-counter medications at designated collection sites. This initiative helps prevent medication misuse and protects the environment from improper disposal.

Accepted items include:

Prescription and over-the-counter medications

Inhalers, ointments, patches, creams, sprays (non-aerosol), and pet meds

Vape pens (with batteries removed)

Do not bring illegal drugs, needles, sharps, or hazardous household waste.

If you miss the event, permanent drug disposal boxes are available across Wisconsin year-round.
