Duane E. Sobieck, 87 of Independence passed away on Tuesday. October 25 th at Gunderson Tri
County Care Center in Whitehall, Wisconsin
Duane was born July 27, 1935 to Paul and Euphorsine (Giemza) Sobieck. Duane raised hogs and
steers on his farm in rural Independence. Duane also partnered with his brother Bob in the
logging industry. After moving off the farm Duane worked at SS Wood Products in
Independence. When Duane wasn’t at work, he enjoyed being in his shop working on antique
tractors (especially his John Deere A) and anything with an engine. Duane also enjoyed fishing
and hunting throughout his life.
Duane is survived by his loving friend, Rita Adank; brother, Robert; sisters, Anna Mae Conrad,
Betty Dascher, Ruth Wegman; and many nieces and nephews.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Raymond, Everett, Adrian, Ralph, Ester
(Emil) Bisek; brothers-in-law, Eldon Conrad and Dallas Dascher; sister-in-law Marilyn Sobieck.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with a
prayer service starting at 11:00 a.m at Edison Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will follow
at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Independence.
