The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development says federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance is now available for eligible workers in Milwaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties.

The aid is for people whose jobs were impacted by the severe storms, flooding, and mudslides that hit the area from August 9th through August 12th. Governor Tony Evers declared a state of emergency, and a presidential disaster declaration was approved earlier this month.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance provides temporary income support for workers who don’t qualify for regular unemployment benefits but lost work directly because of the disaster. That includes self-employed workers and farmers.

Applications must be filed no later than November 10th. You can apply online at my.unemployment.wisconsin.gov, or call the DUA hotline at 608-318-7100 for assistance.
