(Eau Claire, WI) — Just in time for the New Year, Eau Claire’s ice rinks and cross-country ski trails are opening. The city’s parks and rec department yesterday said the rinks at Boyd, Pinehurst, Putnam Heights, and Roosevelt parks are open, though the ice may not necessarily be 100 percent ready to go. The Parks Department says winter gear is available at Pinehurst Park to borrow. That includes snowshoes, sleds, hockey/sledding helmets, kubb, pucks, hockey sticks, broomball, and skate trainers.
