Elroy resident Jared Johns is representing his small Wisconsin community while competing in the Super Dad competition, and he is asking the community to help keep his run going with free daily votes.
Johns is a local father, works in the automotive parts industry and operates DJ JROD Music Services / Driftless DJ. He has also been active in his community through the Lions Club and local events.
But for Johns, this competition is centered on the role that matters most to him: being a dad.
“I don’t think being a Super Dad means being a perfect dad,” Johns said. “It means continuing to show up, making memories with your kids and doing your best for them. If this contest gives me another reason to celebrate being their dad, that’s already something worth doing.”
Throughout the competition, Johns has shared family photographs, throwback memories and updates about his progress while building a group of supporters he calls “Team Jared.”
Friends, family, coworkers and community members have joined the effort by voting, sharing his contestant page and encouraging others to participate.
Johns says he hopes the campaign can also highlight the importance of fathers being present in their children’s lives and celebrating the ordinary moments of fatherhood.
For him, the competition is also an opportunity to create something his children can look back on.
“Someday I want my kids to be able to look back at all of this and know that being their dad was something I was proud of,” Johns said.
Now Johns hopes people throughout Elroy, the surrounding communities and across Wisconsin will help a local dad continue his run.
Supporters can cast a free vote according to the competition’s current voting schedule and follow Johns’ progress directly through his official contestant page.
