Elva Irene Sell, age 93, departed from her earthly home on November 18 th , 2024, at Mayo Hospital in Eau
Claire, WI.
Elva was born in Fall Creek, WI on September 16, 1931 to Leo and Amanda Krause. She was baptized and
confirmed at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. She attended the Green Meadow grade
school and graduated from Fall Creek High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Martin Sell. To
this union their three daughters, Nancy, Cynthia, and Jacqueline were born. Martin and Elva were later
divorced.
Elva was employed as a Cook at the Osseo Hospital and Nursing Home. However, she found her true
calling when she went to work as a Certified Activity Assistant at the Osseo Nursing Home. This was
more than a “job” to Elva, it was an opportunity to make the residents’ lives meaningful and worthwhile.
Elva was a kind, caring person, who would put the needs of others first. We were proud to call her
“Mother”.
She enjoyed dancing and attending many “Polka Festivals” held throughout the years. She enjoyed
watching her grandson, Payton, participating in various sporting events. She was always there to cheer
for him and his team. Payton was a blessing to her and filled her life with happiness, hope and love.
Elva is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Kenneth) Hicks and Skyler Hicks of Augusta, Cynthia (Edward)
Slaby of Pigeon Falls and grandson Payton Slaby of San Diego, California, and Jacqueline (Wade) Solberg
of Stevens Point; sister-in-law, Elaine Krause of Eau Claire and nephew, Larry (La Vonne) Krause of Eau
Claire, and other loving relatives and friends.
Elva was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Amanda Krause; brothers Harold and Eugene
Krause; and special friends, Janet Kelly of St. Paul, Minnesota and Julian King of Augusta.
