Given the unseasonably warm temperatures forecast for the next two weeks and pursuant to
§349.16, Wisconsin Statutes, the Jackson County Highway Department will implement
emergency weight restrictions on all County Trunk Highways beginning Friday, February 2nd.
Spring weight limit restrictions are a necessity for the economic longevity and immediate
structural stability of highways that, without restrictions, will seriously deteriorate when the
underlying ground is weak and mushy from melting frost.
The Jackson County Highway Department advises that the seasonal weight restrictions noted
below will be imposed at 12:01 AM, Friday, February 2, 2024 on all Jackson County Trunk
Highways except CTH P from the north Corporate Limit of the Village of Taylor northerly to
Badger Mining.
Seasonal weight restrictions for all other Jackson County Trunk highways are as follows:
Total Number of Axles Maximum Gross Weight
Two (2) Axles 8 Ton (16,000 lbs.)
Three (3) or More Axles (Straight Truck) 13 Ton (26,000 lbs.)
Combination Vehicle (5th Wheel Tractor & Trailer) 18 Ton (36,000 lbs.)
Placement of signs will start at 7:00 A.M. on Friday, February 2nd. Signs will be placed at
strategic intersections advising the public of specific weight restrictions in effect on the particular
highway. These restrictions are for County Trunk Highways ONLY. Any weight restrictions on
State, City, Village, or Township roads are handled by each respective entity.
Restrictions will remain in effect until all our highways have regained their strength. This date is
weather dependent. To keep up to date on posting please follow us on the Jackson County
website.

Restrictions for the City of Black River Falls streets will be in effect beginning Friday, February 2, 2024. They will remain in effect until further notice as well.
