Erratic Driving Leads to Arrest

A 40-year-old Osseo man has been arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated with children in the vehicle.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says troopers received multiple reports of a black Dodge Durango being driven erratically on Interstate 94 near Black River Falls. The vehicle was later located on Highway 95 near Green Acres Road in the Village of Hixton, where a traffic stop was conducted after troopers observed several traffic violations.

Authorities say the driver, identified as Jayson Carl Olson of Osseo, showed signs of impairment and that numerous open alcoholic beverage containers were found inside the vehicle.

Troopers also discovered three children, ages 7, 6, and 4, were riding in the SUV and were not properly restrained.

Following a roadside investigation and field sobriety testing, Olson was arrested on suspicion of first-offense operating while intoxicated with children under the age of 16 in the vehicle. He was taken to Black River Falls Memorial Hospital for a legal blood draw and later booked into the Jackson County Jail.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene, and Jackson County Health and Human Services was notified regarding the children.
